A visa on arrival is issued at the port of entry. Expect a fee, a passport photo and sometimes proof of onward travel and accommodation.

Not every airport or land border issues it, and some nationalities are sent to secondary checks; confirm the entry point before you travel.

Plugs and voltage

You need a travel adapter: Mauritius uses plug types C, G, the Dominican Republic uses A, B. Mains voltage differs (Mauritius: 230 V; the Dominican Republic: 110 V): most phone and laptop chargers accept 100–240 V, but single-voltage devices such as some hair dryers need a converter.
